The Lauren Rose Albert Foundation’s Mothers Matter program has distributed tens of thousands of gift baskets to women in need, and is holding its third annual walk at Washington Lake Park on Oct. 20 to fund its growing programs.
The foundation, started by Susan Rose after she lost her daughter Lauren to a car accident in 1999, aims to ease the worries of working, hospitalized or struggling women. Members provide them with baskets and gift bags packed with toiletries and self-care products year around — but especially during their big Mothers Day drive — as well as funding scholarships, emergency grants and a “Suited for Work” program to provide women in need with interview and job outfits.
“Our goal for the Mothers Matter 5K run and walk is to spread awareness of the Lauren Rose Albert Foundation and other Mothers Matter programs to help women facing difficult challenges,” said Rose, who runs the program from its headquarters on McClure Drive in Washington Township.
