Dear Friends,
As the Lauren Rose Albert Foundation enters its 20th year of providing strength and comfort to women and families in need, it is so heartening to know that we continue to earn the strong support and belief in our mission that allows us to reach even more deserving women and families.
In 2019 we touched the lives of more women than ever!
LRAF Grants helped a record number of women with critical financial needs and nowhere to turn for help. Women like Sabrina, a recently divorced mother of three who struggles to make ends meet despite having two jobs and working 12-hour days. When the financial burden of unexpected car repair and medical bills caused her to fall behind in crucial payments, the Lauren Rose Albert Foundation was able to help with a $932 rent payment and $156 for overdue childcare fees.
Here is what a helping hand from the Lauren Rose Albert Foundation meant to Sabrina: “The help that you have provided is comforting, inspiring, and fills my heart with hopefulness. The Lauren Rose Albert Foundation is like a guardian angel swooping in to give me the boost of encouragement and support I needed to carry me through to the next phase in life. I appreciate all you do for women like me frantically trying to hold all the pieces together. Your kindness will allow me to have peace of mind and not spend my nights worrying about how to keep my family functioning and continue to work at the same time. “
I am proud to also share the wonderful news that our Mothers Matter gift basket program added two more cancer centers to our annual commitment. In addition to the Fox Chase Cancer Center, Inspira, Penn Medicine/Virtua Cancer Program, and MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper Hospital, we now provide our unique “Comfort” gifts and “Spa” gifts for women undergoing cancer surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson Hospital/Washington Township and the Minitti Center for Hematology Oncology.
Here’s what a Mothers Matter “Comfort” gift bag meant to one recipient: “The fact that I have breast cancer is still a scary reality for me but knowing that such loving and caring people are by my side puts a smile on my face and fills my heart. What you do for women going through this journey is immeasurable. Thank you again for thinking of me.”
For all of this and more, we thank you! It is an honor to share the joy of knowing that together, we are making a real difference in the lives of others.
On behalf of our LRAF Board of Directors, Mothers Matter Committee and our 5K Committee, thank you and all best wishes for the New Year,
Susan Rose
