Lauren Rose Albert Foundation
About Lauren

Lauren grew up in Woodmere, NY and Cherry Hill, NJ with her parents, Susan and Stuart, and her younger sisters Jackie, Amy and Elizabeth. She was the wife of Dr. Todd Albert and the mother of Stuart, Elliot and Emily.

On February 18, 1999 Lauren was a passenger in a vehicle that tumbled down a mountainside in Morocco, killing her. She was only 40.

Lauren was truly, a ray of sunshine. Full of laughter, love and light, Lauren's smile would warm and comfort all who were touched by her radiance, her gentleness and her compassion.

She believed in helping others and was an activist for causes in which she believed and a volunteer to help others less fortunate than herself.

For her parents, sisters, friends and colleagues - and for her own family - Lauren was an inspiration. She had integrity, self-discipline and great strength of character; she always spoke up for what she felt was right. And she fought for her beliefs with determination and dignity.

These are the qualities that inspire the Lauren Rose Albert Foundation.

Mother's Day Gift Basket Project

What is the Mother's Day Gift Basket project? Gift packages filled with women's health and beauty care products are distributed to women facing difficult challenges; each gift carries the message that "Mothers Matter."

How does it work? Schools, businesses, organizations and individuals hold collection drives. Participants receive a list of suggested items for collection, Mothers Matter collection bins and any other required support materials. Mothers Matter volunteers coordinate school and business collections and pick up items from participants. Collections are brought to central locations where volunteers help assemble and decorate packages and then deliver them.

What types of items are collected? Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body spray, scented soap, body lotion, perfume, hairbrushes, combs, hair accessories, lipstick, nail polish, eye shadow, blush, mascara, foot and hand care products and decorative scarves. Mothers Matter Year Round

What is Mothers Matter Year Round? Gift baskets are given year-round upon request and through partnering with community organizations.

Since 2009 the Foundation has partnered with the Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey for their "In the Pink" cancer awareness badge to distribute Mothers Matter gift bags to cancer patients and at risk families.

New projects include distribution of Mothers Matter gift bags to CHOP, Camden County Prosecutor's Office and St. Malachy Church.

We thank our Mothers Matter sponsors and friends who made it possible to distribute 2,750 Mother's Day gifts in 2009.
